Abstract
With the emergence of the 21st Century and its modern challenges with respect to science and technology, the world has been facing environmental security issues. Due to climate change, the Arctic is considered as one of the most affected regions around the world. The climate change in the region has shaped geopolitics and emerged strategic importance among the regional stakeholders. This research proposes the power politics of Russia and the United States which shape and strengthen the implications of Climate Change and other environmental crises over there. On one side, the US has been struggling to maintain unipolarity by dominating while Russia, being a Revisionist state, is asserting its military power. Under the light of environmental security theory, this research has promoted the critical role of global politics and its impacts on both power politics and climate change. Hence, the research presents policy recommendations to preserve sovereignty and interests of each stakeholder along with the environmental security of the Arctic.
